Be sure to visit the Pantera Wiki Page for technical information on the DeTomaso Pantera!

This is our 1972 DeTomaso Pantera. Ford sold these in the US through Lincoln Mercury dealerships from 1971 to 1974. About 6,000 were sold here, and a good number still exist today. When I was a kid, the Pantera ranked right up there with the Lamborghini Countach and Ferrari Testarossa. I had posters of all three on my walls. Lucky for me, a good Pantera is still pretty affordable at around $40k. Parts are pretty easy to come by too, and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to maintain (like say, an old Testarossa would) To see exactly how we go this far with our Pantera, please visit our Pantera History page.

Exterior: The biggest change here is the all steel Group4 style fender flares. PI Motorsports handled all of the body and paint work. The door handles were shaved, along with the sidemarkers, drip rails, windshield wipers and radio antenna. The hood and decklid are carbon fiber. The black stripe down the center of the car is that carbon fiber exposed, with vinyl decals continuing the stripe over the rest of the car. The Paint is a 2006 Mitsubishi color called Sunset Pearlescent.

Details: The wheels are from Panteras by Wilkinson with custom offsets and brushed wheel hoops. 18's in the rear, 17's up front. All of the chrome trim has been blacked out. The tail lights are our own Auger Resources Carello tinted clear lenses with Pantera Electronics LED lights. The new side marker light was a good find on ebay. The side mirrors are from APR Performance and use convex glass, so despite their size, they work very well. The side scoops are functional ram air scoops from PIM that feed into a Vararam intake. The front turn signals have been relocated behind the front grill. The carbon fiber front bumperettes are from PIM.

Interior: The Interior is currently under construction. Jaime has done all of the upholstery work. We completely redesigned the center console to allow for horizontal stereo mounting, cool toggle switches with LED lighting, and horizontal placement of the Autometer Phantom gauges. The seats are from PI Motorsports (required fabrication of our own e-brake bracket, modification of the e-brake lever and modification of the seat sliders). The shift boot is our own AugerResources.com product. The Momo steering wheel and roll bar were purchased from Precision Pro-Formance.
Engine, Drivetrain and Suspension: The 351C made 339rwhp and 338rwtrq on the dyno. The previous owner did some work to it. I only needed to add a Holley 650 carb. The ZF tranny is stock except for a stainless steel clutch line and PI Motorsports Clutch Master. The half-shafts are heavy duty PI Motorsports. The braking system is improved with Carbon Kevlar pads and stainless lines, both from PI Motorsports.. The suspension was rebuilt with all new bearings and bushings. Shocks are Konis from Pantera Performance. The front swaybar is stock and the rear swaybar is a 1" swaybar with ball ends from Pantera Performance.
Cooling System: Cooling of the water is performed by a Fluidyne Aluminum Radiator. The twin sucker fans are Flex-a-lite and the hi-flow aluminum water pump is Flow-Kooler.
