| 1. Make sure the emergency brake is on.
Put the shifter into neutral and remove the shift knob by loosening the
nut at the base of the knob. Unscrew the knob and nut and set them aside.
If you have a Voodoo shift knob, simply unscrew it. |
 |
| 2. Remove the shift boot
and base by carefully prying up on the edges of the base. |
 |
| 3. Flip the boot assembly over and remove
the four torx screws in the bottom. Pull out the shift boot and it's plastic
ring. |
 |
| 4. Remove the staples that
attach the factory shift boot to the plastic ring. Needle nose pliers or
a small, flat headed screwdriver work well. If you have a Voodoo shift
knob, skip to step 8 (the plastic ring at the top will not be used in the
new boot). |
 |
| 5. Turn the factory shift boot inside
out and cut the white zip strap at the top. With the zip strap gone, you
can pull out the hard plastic ring at the top of the shift boot. |
 |
| 6. Turn the new shift boot inside out
and push the small plastic ring through the bottom side of the shift boot
until the top lip of the ring pops through. |
 |
 |
| 7. Wrap the new, included zip strap around
the neck of the boot and zip it tight. Cut off the excess strap with some
wire cutters or scissors and turn the boot right side out again. |
 |
| 8. Test fit the boot over top of the plastic
base. There are two sewn tabs on the underside of the shift boot which line
up to indentations on the bottom side of the plastic base. Slip the boot
on, align the tabs, and check to see if the notches cut out of the bottom
of the boot line up with the "feet" of the plastic base light
the right most picture. If the notches don't line up, rotate the boot 180
degrees and everything should be set. |
 |
 |
| 9. Once you have the boot aligned, pull
off the protective backing from the double sided sticky tape at the bottom
of the boot, and stick it to the plastic base. Do one side at a time. The
boot should be smooth, all the way around the base. |
 |
| 10. Reattach the shift boot assembly to the plastic
base with the torx screws. Do not over tighten! Just tighten the screws
until there is no play. |
 |
 |
| 11. Position the boot assembly onto the center
console, and push down. It should snap into place. |
 |
| 12. Screw the nut down onto the shift rod as
far as it will go. Then do the same with the shift knob. Now unscrew the
shift knob until the gear layout graphic is oriented to your liking. Then,
while holding the shift knob with one hand, tighten the nut against the
shift knob with a wrench, locking the knob into place. If you have a
Voodoo shift knob, simply tighten the shift knob. It will overlap the shift
boot a little bit like in the second picture. |
