I decided for this project to model the piece on the computer so I could get a better idea of what it would look like from all angles before I built it. I modeled every piece and every joint so that I could render out the line drawings and also I would essentially be building the entire bookcase and would find any flaws with the plan and make adjustments without ever cutting a piece of wood. I could have made my measurement notations in Photoshop but I chose to print out the views and hand draw the measurements.

I also intend to put crown moulding around the top of the bookcase - I just found the perfect bit to make it last week.
